When choosing this company for a logo
redesign project, I decided to choose this company because the logo felt slightly outdated, as I haven’t been able to find any information if there had ever been a logo design.
During the initial design process, I wanted to implement aspects of the restaurant into the new logo as a sort of iconography, and I settled on using the koi fish that are located the entrance of nearly every restaurant establishment. Using the shape of the fish, I was able implement the elements of taijitu, or Yin and Yang, into the final logo, as a callback to it’s Chinese heritage.
I chose the 3 different logo colourations:
- A standard Black & White logo
- A Red and Gold Colour based on tradtional Chinese colourings
- A Green and Magenta logo based on the Mandarins existing colour palette
