When going about implementing iconography that highlight vague concepts such as seasons, it’s crucial to capture aspects commonly associated with said season. With Spring and Autumn, most seasonal associations come from the lifecycle of the environment. While Summer and Winter are seasons that occur in between these cycles, winter has associations with the cold and snow, while summers associations consist with heat and the sun. When it came to choosing iconography for summer, I was going to have to rely on activities and locations revolving around the heat rather than actual ecological events happening within the season.
In the end, the iconography that I chose to associate summer with was sea shells. While a large majority of the world might not have access to beaches, most associate going to the beach with heat, as popular beach activities rely on the corresponding heat.
